Byoko is a small restaurant group in central Málaga built around organic, locally sourced ingredients.

They came to Gaico Studio with strong photography, a clear point of view, and a website that wasn't doing either of those things justice. The new site is quiet on purpose. It steps back so the food, the people and the room can step forward.

Byoko

From the garden to the screen.

At the time Byoko's two restaurants sat a few blocks apart in Málaga's old centre. Both rooms work to the same idea: organic produce, seasonal cooking, nothing dressed up. The challenge was to translate that into something you could feel on a screen.
The site was rebuilt from the ground up, keeping a single principle in front of every decision: let the food and the atmosphere talk.

Every layout decision started from the image. Type sizes, margins, grid widths. All sized against the photography so the food never has to compete with the interface. The result is a site that reads almost like a printed editorial: image, breath, image, breath.
